Love and faithfulness. There is no love without fidelity and fidelity without love.

2022

EXHIBITION OF THE WINNERS QUADRIENNALE BETESDA

July 1-25, 2022, Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10:00 am-4:30 pm, Last entry at 4:00 pm.

The artists who won the Quadriennale Betesda contemporary art competition will focus on this topic: Love and faithfulness. In the quiet of their studios from January to July 2022, they wonder what words such as faithfulness, truthfulness, keeping one's word and promises, true love mean to them. The creators will be inspired by the words of Saint John Paul II, which he delivered during the homily in Sandomierz on June 12, 1999:

“Today, the civilization of death offers you, among other things, the so-called" free love ". In this distortion of love comes to the profanation of one of the most dear and sacred values, because licentiousness is neither love nor freedom. "So do not follow this world model, but change yourselves by renewing your mind, so that you may recognize what is God's will, what is good, what is acceptable to God and what is perfect" (Rom 12: 2), Saint Paul exhorts us. A civilization which in this way wounds or even kills the correct human-to-human relationship is a civilization of death, because man cannot live without true love. " John Paul II believed that only a pure heart can fully accomplish the great work of love which is marriage! Only a pure heart can fully serve another, therefore he preached to protect faithfulness, not to be seduced by illusions of happiness, for which you pay the price of often incurable wounds or even a broken life. “John Paul II also shows the negative consequences of all infidelity ... referring to the teaching of the prophets - marital infidelity makes an image of man's infidelity towards God. Infidelity closes man to eternal life, to communion of beatific vision, love and happiness with God. "

Faithfulness in the Pope's teaching means fidelity to the covenant with God, his word and will, fidelity to other people, fidelity in male-female relationships, as well as faithful perseverance in the sacrament of marriage and priesthood. “Faithfulness, then, is a responsibility for one's own love. First, God is faithful. "

Faithfulness also means being honest and keeping promises. However, not all the words we utter or the relationships in which we live are in accordance with God's will, then fidelity to the covenant with God is of paramount importance over promises that are made irresponsibly and hastily or dictated by passions or momentary pleasures. So where is the line between delusion and true love, how to be faithful and be guided in life by the good of others, choosing responsibility for your words, actions and feelings?

The effects of the arrtists' personal reflections will be shown during the collective Exhibition of Contemporary Art Quadriennale Betesda in July 2022 in Warsaw, in the Mt 5,14 | Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński, at 1A Bankowy Square.
